The National Board of Examinations (NBE) was established in 1975 by the Government of India to enhance the quality of Medical Education through standardized postgraduate examinations in modern medicine nationwide.

NBE administers postgraduate and post-doctoral examinations in approved disciplines, granting Diplomate of National Board (DNB) and Fellow of National Board (FNB) qualifications. Despite the Medical Council of India (MCI) setting standards for postgraduate examinations at medical colleges and universities, variations in proficiency and evaluation standards among institutions have created inconsistencies in assessment and qualifications. National Board of Examinations approved the following DNB Program in Indiana Hospital & Heart Institute Ltd
