About the Department
The Largest and Most Adept Cardiac Surgery Team in South India
The Indiana Hospital & Heart Institute has one of the largest, most experienced cardiac surgery team in
the world. Over the last 2 1/2 years, more than 200 patients have had their heart surgery performed at
Indiana Hospital & Heart Institute for – ranging from mitral valve surgery to cardiac bypasses to
complex aortic and arch surgeries.
The Indiana Hospital & Heart Institute performs the most number of coronary artery bypass operations in
India, with a success rate of over 99%. Even complex operations, Re-do surgeries and aortic and great
vessel surgeries, are routinely performed at Indiana Hospital & Heart Institute with excellent
results.
Patient-centered care
We strive to provide each patient and family member with education, support and world-class medical care
extending from his first visit until discharge. We are also proud to provide personal services that put
the comfort and well-being of cardiac surgery patients before all other considerations.
Superior Outcomes
Every year, the heart surgeons at Indiana Hospital & Heart Institute achieve outstanding surgical
outcomes – even for the most complex, difficult cases. The Indiana Hospital & Heart Institute model
emphasizes an integrated, team approach to provide the best care for each patient.
The Center is equipped with:
• CABG (Beating Heart): Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting performed
while the heart is still beating, allowing for enhanced recovery and reduced
complications.
•Keyhole Bypass Surgery: A minimally invasive approach to coronary
artery bypass grafting, using small incisions to access the heart, leading to reduced recovery
time and less pain.
• Redo Surgery: Surgical procedures performed to correct or revise
previous heart surgeries, often addressing complications or failed repairs.
•Aortic Aneurysm Repair: Surgical intervention to repair an
aneurysm in the aorta, preventing rupture and potential life-threatening complications.
•Heart Transplant: A surgical procedure to replace a diseased or
damaged heart with a healthy donor heart, typically reserved for end-stage heart failure
patients.
• High-Risk Bypass Surgery for Cardiomyopathy: Specialized coronary
bypass surgery designed for patients with significant heart muscle weakness, addressing both
blockages and heart function challenges.
• Ultra Modem Cardiac Surgery Operation Theatres
• Latest Heart Lung machine
• Well equipped Post operative ICU with all types of state – of the art
facilities
• Latest of Intra Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP)
• All types of Adult heart surgeries.
• Paediatric Cardiac Surgeries.
• Apart from Coronary Artery Bypass Surgery we perform
• Valve replacement surgeries & Valve repairs.
• Combined valve and bypass surgery.
• Surgery for congenital heart defects like ASD, VSD and TOF.
• Thoracic surgeries, including lung and mediastinal surgery.
• Surgeries for peripheral vascular disease like Aorto-bifemoral bypass,
Femoro-femoral bypass,
femoro-popliteal bypass surgeries and as combined procedure with bypass surgery.
• Aortic Surgeries
• Hybrid Procedures.
- • Electrophysiology (EP): Precise assessment of electrical
activity
in the heart.
- • Intravascular Ultrasound (IVUS): Advanced imaging to
visualize
arterial conditions.
- • Cardio MEMS HF System: Remote monitoring of pulmonary artery
pressure for early heart failure detection.
- • Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT): High-resolution imaging
for
coronary artery evaluation.
- • FFR (Fractional Flow Reserve): A diagnostic procedure that
measures blood flow and pressure in coronary arteries to determine the severity of blockages.
- • 3D Mapping: Advanced technology that creates detailed,
three-dimensional images of the heart's electrical activity, aiding in precise diagnosis and
treatment of arrhythmias.
- • 3D Echocardiogram: An imaging technique that provides
three-dimensional views of the heart, allowing for enhanced visualization of cardiac
structures and function.
- • MitraClip: A device used in a minimally invasive procedure
to
repair a leaking mitral valve by clipping the valve leaflets together.
• Bypass surgery
• Valve surgery
• Congenital heart surgery
• Aortic surgery
• Atrial fibrillation surgery
• Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy surgery
